On the last day of 2017, after the best books, let's close the year by making a list of which songs I listened to the most this year and which groups I liked.
10. Pop Evil – Waking Lions : Pop Evil was founded in 2001 by Leigh Kakaty (Vocals) and Dave Grahs (Rhythm Guitar). After several changes, Hayley Cramer, who is now new to the band on drums (I really liked their ex-drummer Joshua Marunde for his energy and frenzy, it's a loss for the band), continues with Matt Dirito on bass and Nick Fuelling on lead guitar. The band, whose self-titled last album will be released in February, released the song Waking Lions on October 30. Of course, when it became one of my favorite bands, I couldn't help but list it. If you haven't listened to Pop Evil, be sure to check out his other songs. In particular, you will know a very solid rock band that has signed many excellent songs such as Trenches, Deal With The Devil, Boss's Daughter, Torn To Pieces, Footsteps.
9. Asking Alexandria – Where Did It Go: British Metalcore band celebrated the return of vocalist Danny Worsnop, one of the founding members of the band, with their self-titled album on December 15th. Where Did It Go was released on October 25. Other notable songs of the band, which is their fifth album, are Black, Not The American Average, Moving On, I Won't Give In, A Prophecy.
8. Adelitas Way – This Goes Out To You: Founded in 2006, the band could not establish a stable line-up other than vocalist Rick DeJesus and bassist Andrew Cushing. They recorded a great love song on their album Notorious, which was released on October 20. Other notable tracks are Ready For War, Invincible, Sick, Alive.
7. Five Finger Death Puch – Trouble: I think 5FDP is the best band of the last 10 years. Although their new album will be released in May, two of their songs have already been released. It was up to us to put it on the list as well. The band's song Wash It All Away was one of the best songs of the last year. When Zoltan Bathory and Jason Hook's great harmony on guitars, Jeremy Spencer's attack drums, Chris Cael's bass guitar and Ivan Moody's awesome vocals join, a legendary band emerged. Be sure to listen.
6. Of Mice & Men – Unbreakable: The first song to be released from their album Defy, which will be released in January. The band, who constantly changed vocalists, finally gave up and bass guitarist Aaron Pauley took part in the vocals in their last album. It's pretty good.
5. Papa Roach – Born For Greatness: One of the popular American alternative metal bands, Papa Roach's album Crooked Teeth was released in May. Things seem to be going well with the band, which has been making music for over twenty years. The group, whose preparations for the new album continue, also has many hit songs such as Last Resort, Gravity, Scars, She Loves Me Not.
4. Stone Sour – Fabuless: Stone Sour, a side project of legendary Slipknot vocalist Corey Taylor. The album Hydrograd, which he released in June with this group, is also very successful. Although the other singles from the album (Song #3 and Rose Red Violent Blue) were beautiful, I had to choose one.
3. Parkway Drive – Bottom Feeder: The last single from the Australian Metalcore band's fifth album, IRE, released in 2015. Since it was released at the end of 2016 and it is one of my favorite songs this year, I favored the band 🙂 The song's clip is also very successful. We look forward to their next album to be released next year. We will go to see them at the Graspop Music Festival in June.
2. Arch Enemy – The Eagle Flies Alone: Arch Enemy is a Swedish Melodic Death Metal band. The group was founded in 1996. Michael Amott (Carcass) on guitar, John Liiva (Carnage) on vocals and bass, and Daniel Erlandsson (Eucharist) on drums, from the original line-up, only Ammot and Erlandsson are present. Liiva (1996 Black Earth; 1998 Stigmata; 1999 Burning Bridges), which was included in the first three albums, was later replaced by Angela Gossow, one of the best female brutal vocalists, who contributed greatly to the popularity of the group. Sharlee D'Angelo, who joined the band as a bass player in 1999, is still on the band's roster. The popularity of the group, which released the albums Wages of Sin (2001), Anthems of Rebellion (2003), Doomsday Machine (2005), Rise of the Tyrant (2007), Khaos Legions (2011) with Gossow, continued to increase rapidly. Their biggest hit was the album War Eternal, which they released in 2014 and signed a magnificent song with the same name. In this album, Alissa White-Gluz, who is considered one of the most "hot chicks" of Canadian rock music, took over the flag instead of Gossow. He made his debut on the Canadian Idol game show in 2006 before appearing in an Extreme Metal band called White-Gluz Agonist. I think War Eternal is one of the best songs in metal music history. The song, which draws attention with its guitar riffs and the dual harmony of Amott and Cordle, deserves all the praise, especially with its awesome double guitar solo. Of course, Nick Cordle, who was an engineer on that album and also played the guitar and keyboard and composed the compositions, has a great share in the guitar parts of the song. Fortunately, they replaced Cordle, who left the band after the album, with Jeff Loomis, a guitar virtuoso, but Cordle was still a great loss for the band. Today, their first album with Loomis, the band's tenth album, Will To Power, was released on September 7, 2017. The first single, The World Is Yours, was released in July and The Eagle Flies Alone was released in August. The album, which entered the list in all countries, including the US Billboard, is again a successful work in the style of Melodic Death Metal.
1. Sixx A.M. – We Will Not Go Quietly: Sixx A.M. A hard rock band consisting of James Michael on vocals, Nikki Sixx on bass and DJ Ashba on guitar. The name of the group also consists of the initials of the surnames Sixx and Ashba and Michael, also a reference to "6 o'clock". In addition to being a singer and musician, James Michael also produces, writes and mixes songs. Among the bands and artists he has worked with are Kelly Clarkson, Alanis Morissette, Meat Loaf, Mötley Crüe, HammerFall, Scorpions, Hilary Duff, The Rasmus, Papa Roach, Trapt, American Bang, Saliva, The Exies, Deana Carter, Sammy Hagar, Lillix, Sarah Kelly , Taylor Momsen, Halestorm, Jack's Mannequin, Brides of Destruction. Michael, who can play almost all musical instruments, has also made a solo album.
Let's move on to DJ Ashba, the star of the band. The guitarist, whose full name is Daren Jay Ashba (DJ for short, but not a radio DJ), has both solo albums. It was published in Addiction To The Friction (1996) and Eli Roth's Goretorium – Songs For The Demented Mind (2012). Apart from these, after playing with Bullet Boys for a short time, he also made an album with Beautiful Creatures. Joining Guns'n Roses in 2009, Ashba joined Sixx A.M. He left the group for Although there was talk at that time that Slash would return, he himself left the group before. Ashba, who is an incredibly talented and charismatic guitarist, also has his own clothing brand. The group, which managed to enter the Billboard charts with two consecutive albums released in 2016, is among the new-good rock bands of recent years. Especially with songs such as Life Is Beautiful, Lies of the Beautiful People, Stars, This Is Gonna Hurt, We Will Not Go Quietly, they also managed to enter the singles charts.
