Fakat Müzeyyen Bu Derin Bir Tutku – İlhami Algör

“Fakat Müzeyyen Bu Derin Bir Tutku” is the first book in İlhami Algör's trilogy series. This book, which was published by İletişim Publishing in 2014, was followed by "Albayım Beni Nezahat ile Evlendir" and "İkircikli Biricik" in 2015. At 65 pages, it is an impressive book, despite being read in one breath.

Our hero is a man who, so to speak, could not handle an ax in life; He has a simple life with his own world, weaknesses, scattered thoughts, disregard and love for Müzeyyen. He can make fun of himself, he is aware of his weaknesses, he talks to things, everything seems to him like movie scenes he created in his fantasy world.

Müzeyyen, on the other hand, is a woman who was left alone with her little daughter after her husband died in a traffic accident. Our hero, who is a former film editor, falls in love with Müzeyyen and they get married. The story is based on this briefly; the reader reads the whole book through the eyes of the man, from his mood, from his feelings.

The man loves the woman very much, the more he loves, the more his spirit grows, the spirit does not fit into the house, he wakes up before the woman in the mornings, flees from the house, goes to the far corners of the city, and finds her further away from his own existence every time he returns. Although he realizes that Müzeyyen has slipped out of his hands, he does / cannot do anything. In fact, the man is confused; Is he really attached to Müzeyyen or is Müzeyyen the only thing he can hold on to in life?

A movie of the book, starring Erdal Beşikçioğlu and Sezin Akbaşoğulları, was also shot, but it cannot be said that the movie, which is more drama, fully coincides with the book. There are references to many films and artists in the book. Lots of Orhan Gencebay, Sadri Alışık interspersed; Orhan Gencebay's songs about sadness, pain and love; Sadri Alışık's love from afar… The book ends with a smile on your face and a pain in your heart, although the emotions and words of our hero, who resembles Raif Efendi in Sabahattin Ali's famous work, Madonna with a Fur Coat, sometimes make you laugh.

“I took my tobacco, my key, I'm just leaving the house, I realized that something was missing, the missing thing was my soul. I didn't care."

"What happened," said Müzeyyen, "I'll go anywhere in the world with you," and he started to walk away from where he was standing?

“When the movie was over and everyone was leaving the theater, I looked at him with the spirit of a man stuck in his chair, his mind stuck on the last scene.”

“…I couldn't think of any other ending. I didn't want it to be like this, but it always was. All the Indians of the world were defeated, Spartacus lost, turned yellow at sunset, the birds turned, the scoundrel called Sadri Alışık cried in every movie. As she cried, I cried too. I would cry without knowing why. …”

"Story," I said. "Come, let's deal with you. You stay unfinished, let's name it the unfinished story. ”

“What have you already completed? “she told me…

-Muzeyyen?

+Sir?

-None. I like to say your name...
